Dr. Richard Mullins, Xavier University
Richard J. Mullins grew up in Middle Tennessee where his love of sports and science was cultivated. He attended Centre College, where he pitched for the college baseball team while completing his bachelor’s degree in chemistry. After earning his PhD from Indiana University in 2004, specializing in organic chemistry, Mullins was hired as a tenure track professor at Xavier University. He has taught there ever since, being recently promoted in 2017 to professor. His teaching has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Alpha Sigma Nu Bishop Fenwick Teacher of the Year Award, the most prestigious teaching award given at Xavier University.
His research focuses on the development and application of new methods for the synthesis of small natural products with potential medicinal applications. Mullins lives in Ohio with his wife and two kids. He enjoys coaching his son’s baseball team, running marathons, and supporting his favorite sports teams.
Dr. Adam Azman, Xavier University
Adam Azman is a teaching professor in chemistry at Xavier University. He has also taught at Butler University, where he was awarded Butler University’s Outstanding Faculty Member Award by the Student Government Association in 2015. He lives in Cincinnati with his wife, 2-year-old daughter, and 4-month-old son.
