Professor Jon Fish, Trident Technical College
Jon Fish is a professor & lead instructor/coordinator for Sociology and Anthropology at Trident Technical College, as well as the Director of Social Science Solutions LLC. Professor Fish received his bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee and completed his graduate work at Florida State University. He is a freelance editorial contributor and cultural critic for several social, journalistic, and research-centered media outlets including The Atlantic, The Huffington Post, and Cracked, among others. He has also co-authored the textbook Crime Scene Investigation Case Studies: Step by Step from the Crime Scene to the Courtroom. As the Director at Social Science Solutions, he provides program efficacy and operational efficiency-related support services to growing firms and charities by motivating his expertise as a social researcher toward practical outcomes for institutions, businesses, and non-profit organizations. He is currently putting some of these experiences to the page while finishing his next book, The Program Evaluation Handbook: Lessons in Organizational Efficacy, Assessment, & Politics. He also teaches sociology courses in and around the Charleston area and online, as well as presents on effective communication and andragogy techniques to help educators reach students and overcome educational barriers in the "digital age." His research and teaching interests include: postmodern labeling and communication, critical cultural theory, digital media literacy, applied social research, public and legal policy, and deviance & criminology.
