Robert C. Davis recently retired after twenty-five years of teaching history at The Ohio State University. As a research scholar, he published eight collections or monographs on early-modern Mediterranean history, his research has been supported by the Fulbright, Guggenheim, and Rockefeller Foundations, the Institute for Advanced Study, the American Academy in Rome, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the American Council of Learned Societies. He has recently completed a survey text on European history: Story and History: Western Civilization Since 1550.
