Insights & intelligence: Behind the scenes of a student-centered institution
A holistic view of the student provides higher education leaders and educators the necessary tools to help optimize their students’ educational experiences and – ultimately – their success. Moving beyond a point-in-time, data gathered from the student experience within digital content allows for a more comprehensive – and early – view of where they are exceeding as well as struggling. Institutional intelligence and analytics provided with Inclusive Access helps institutions and educators identify these students and act on data to improve student and institutional outcomes.
In this session, you’ll hear from your peers on the frontline of measuring the impact digital content and technology are having on learning.

- James Frazee, San Diego State University
- Matt Gunkel, Indiana University Bloomington

Hold the power of future ed tech in your hands
Research shows that workers in the future will need a complex set of skills and knowledge, such as reasoning, decision making, and critical thinking. And they will have to apply those skills in jobs where they work alongside machines. The next wave of digital learning moves from knowledge practice and feedback to giving feedback on how people learn. That sets up students to succeed in the more complex world of work. Advanced technology, such as AI and machine learning, can help educators teach and assess those complex skills.

Are we preparing students for the future of work?
The skills gap – one of the most critical topics with both educators and employers today. How can higher ed institutions provide students with the necessary skills that are most important to employers in their chosen career pathway? It’s about discovering, developing, and aligning soft skills to a students' academic plan and future work goals. And further – how research and analytics can provide evidence of learning that both institutions and employers can depend on.

Virtual holographic simulation: Measuring nursing student outcomes from immersive technology
Emerging holographic VR simulation technology delivers nursing simulation at a fraction of the cost of traditional health care simulation modalities. At San Diego State University, we partnered with Pearson and Microsoft to explore the efficacy of holographic virtual simulation through the HoloLens to increase skills, knowledge, confidence, and motivation to learn.
