What is the Debate Mate approach?  

The Debate Mate approach focusses on developing transferable communication and leadership skills such as critical and creative thinking, listening and collaboration, problem-solving, core confidence, empathy and resilience. This is achieved through a teaching approach which creates an environment where students develop an awareness of their own thinking and learning skills. 

This 90-minute masterclass will equip teachers with the theoretical understanding and practical tools needed to build communication skills in the classroom. Through a combination of interactive activities, idea sharing and planning and consultation time, this session will provide a strong foundation for teachers who wish to enhance teaching and learning through Debate Mate’s approach. This Masterclass will enable teachers to embed our activities into their practice and can be implemented immediately.
