Supporting Clinical Assessment customers during Coronavirus (COVID-19)
During these unprecedented times in the NHS, wider health and social care services and education, we want to say a heartfelt thank you for the exceptional hard work and commitment you and your colleagues are undertaking to support our society.
Like all of you, we are closely monitoring the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), as well as the guidance being given by the UK Government and Public Health England, to ensure the health and safety of our customers, your patients, clients or students, and our employees remains our number-one priority.
We are listening to your questions and concerns and, as the situation unfolds, we remain committed to minimising disruption to you and your professional practice.
To help support you more effectively during this time, we have options for digital or remote administration of our instruments, which may enable you to continue to serve any client or student who can’t be seen in person.
Assessment via telepractice: general guidelines
The use of assessment tools is a key area of study within the larger telepractice landscape. As professionals begin to adopt any new service-delivery tool or model, it is imperative they consider all the surrounding issues related to this change in service-delivery method. In general, the appropriateness of use of a specific assessment tool in the context of telepractice should be considered carefully.
- You are responsible for checking local laws and regulations for your clinical practice.
- You should refer to guidelines from your professional association for further recommendations, including ethical implications. We have included links to these associations:
The British Psychological Society (BPS)
Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
- You may use information provided by Pearson on specific products to assist you in your clinical decision-making.
Q-global
Q-global is our web-based administration, scoring and reporting system that enables you to administer a selection of assessments, remotely or via telepractice, so you can continue supporting your clients during social distancing. Q-global also allows you to input results from paper-and-pencil assessments to generate scores and produce accurate comprehensive reports.
Online support with our assessment consultant
We've expanded the online availability of our assessment consultants, who are available to assist you with any questions you may have regarding our assessments or their use via telepractice.
Mindfulness -
keeping calm during difficulty
Feeling a certain amount of concern or worry is natural when we encounter difficult or unsettling times. Practising mindfulness at times like these can help to rewire the brain to work in calmer and more positive ways. To get you started, we've pulled together the below resources which will introduce mindfulness techniques that you can practise at school or at home, which are suitable for teachers, parents and young people.
Please remember if you're feeling overwhelmed with difficult thoughts to always talk to someone. If you're a student then talking to your family/parent/guardian or your close friends can help. If you're undertaking any therapy currently, always check in with them first before doing any of the practices suggested below.
