As a second year Psychology PhD student I presented a poster on my current study: ‘Investigating Motor and Executive Function Skills in Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD)’.

This Symposium provided me with an opportunity to present the work I am currently undertaking to both a specialist and non-specialist audience. This was a valuable experience that allowed me to tailor the communication of my research process according to the audience. The posters were assessed on five criteria: clarity of oral overview, clarity of key messages, visual presentation, engagement with specialists and engagement with non-specialists.

I was overwhelmed to receive the £100 prize kindly sponsored by Pearson for the ‘Best Psychology Presentation’. This experience was a fantastic learning opportunity, and winning this prize really boosted my confidence before presenting my research at the 13th International Conference on DCD in Finland later this year.
