Dr Kathleen McMillan has a MA Hons in Modern History and Political Science (University of Dundee), Master of Education (University of Sheffield) and PhD (University of Glasgow). Having worked as a civil servant and local government office, Kathleen moved to teaching learners in primary, secondary, further and higher, as well as community, education. As a lecturer at the University of Dundee, Kathleen spent much time helping students formulate and express their thoughts to meet academic standards, and developed a programme of study skills across the university, which in turn led to series of successful Study Skills books with Dr Jonathan Weyers. Kathleen is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and contributor to the Quality Assurance Agency's Quality Enhancement Themes.Â
Dr Jonathan Weyers
trained at Glasgow University and obtained a BSc hons and PhD in plant science. He then took up a position as lecturer in biological sciences at the University of Dundee where he researched, taught and acted as an academic tutor, and was involved in curriculum development. Jonathan initiated and co-authored several books in Pearson Education's ‘Practical Skills' series. These and other initiatives led to a fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. Jonathan later took up a position as Director in the University's Centre for Learning and Teaching which inter alia was involved in developing the university's virtual learning environment, organising the institutional staff development programme and numerous academic support initiatives for students. His final position was as Director of Quality Assurance where he steered the university to its second ‘excellent' rating in the QAA's institutional review process. Jonathan is currently an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Dundee.Need help? Get in touch
