Diversity and inclusion
We need, and want, to do more to ensure that the Languages curriculum fully reflects today's students, is free from bias and highlights the complete history behind the development and growth of languages across the world.
We don't want to shy away from the difficult and uncomfortable truths, but rather allow students to analyse, interpret, and learn from these events in order to build a better future - one with more understanding and empathy. While it may be a long journey to make our goals a reality, we are more dedicated than ever and are working with key stakeholders, schools, and students to drive this change.
Permission to Speak: Amplifying Marginalised Voices Through Languages
As part of our work to shine a light on the complete and often complicated history behind the growth of languages, we've partnered with leading language educators and leaders in 'Diversifying the MFL curriculum' to create a new series that aims to illuminate the often hidden stories of marginalised people and cultures. We've created a resource for each area of focus that includes background information into the topic, key discussion questions, and an activity for students to complete.
