Diversity, inclusion and belonging: Plotting Ahead Roundtable - January 2020
Taking place this January at the iconic British Library in London, our first Plotting Ahead... Roundtable will see educators, charities, publishers and leading influencers come together to discuss Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging within children’s literature in the UK.
From witnessing an ever-increasing spotlight on these themes and their importance within what our young readers are exposed to, we’ll be hearing from experts who have conducted incredibly important research into these areas and investigating how we can shake up the current narrative to influence change.
“Children need and deserve to see themselves in books, and to have access to a rich and diverse range of voices. If they do, it can be life-changing.”
- Jill Coleman, Director of Children’s Books at BookTrust
We are delighted to announce author, coach, keynote speaker and ‘resilience ninja’ Jaz Ampaw-Farr as our event chair. A former teacher, Jaz has literacy at her heart and will be facilitating on the day, bringing her enthusiasm and passion to the discussion.
Jaz will be joined by fellow speakers:
Farrah Serroukh
Learning Programme Leader at CLPE and author of the Reflecting Realities Survey of Ethnic Representation within UK Children’s Literature.
