Report from the Independent Apprenticeship Policy Group
The Independent Apprenticeship Policy Group, sponsored by Pearson, and independently run and chaired, brought together a group of 15 experts to discuss the future of apprenticeships.
Key findings in our executive summary
The importance of apprenticeships for individuals, businesses and the economy
As global social and economic trends continue to have a material impact on jobs and skills needs in the UK, how can work together to build on the system we have, and ensure the system is fit for the future? Every individual involved in this report is firmly committed to the value and success of the apprenticeship system. Apprenticeships unlock talent and support thousands of individuals and employers to flourish, and the economy to grow. They have long been a bedrock of our education and employment landscape. The aim of the work was to help develop a long-term vision for apprenticeships, as the new reforms bed down, and to ensure the system is fit for the future in the face of global social and economic change. There is so much talent out there. We need to unlock this by helping individuals to access and succeed in exciting and challenging careers.
