Highlights of the week ending 6 May
With Parliament prorogued ahead of the Queen’s Speech and local election purdah it has been a quieter week. That’s not to say it has been quiet. Ofqual published its three-year plan to 2025. There was a heavy emphasis on the potential use of technology in assessment – which chimes with the findings of the recent Future of Qualifications and Assessment research published by Pearson.
The week began with Nadhim Zahawi calling upon schools to make use of the National Tutoring Programme, following the recent change to concentrate on school led tutoring.
Next week sees the State Opening of Parliament and the Queen’s Speech. Given the recent Schools White Paper and the SEND Green Paper, expect education Bills to feature on this Government’s legislative programme. A “Levelling Up Bill” is also expected with could cover elements of education and skills given the targets in those areas.
