The week has been dominated by one story – the Prime Minister’s reshuffle of his cabinet and wider ministerial team.
For many it has been back to school this week, including Members of Parliament. It’s been a busy few days in the Commons as we’ve had education questions to ministers which included several MPs questioning the fate of BTEC and Applied General qualifications, 2021 A level and GCSE grading, and plans for 2022 exams. Nick Gibb was joined by Ofqual to give evidence to the Education Select Committee on those last two points: summer results 2021 and arrangements for 2022.
Earlier this year the government set out its plans for skills development in its Skills for Jobs White Paper. This week has seen further moves on some of the key policies included within it.
Although the summer holidays are in full swing and things are quieter than usual, this week has still seen a number of significant announcements and publications.
