Pearson conducted a pilot study at the University of Denmark to assess how Revel® supported the teaching challenges of the course and the student understanding and engagement with the platform learning material.

As a pilot study carried out in three stages, we tried to assess the teaching and learning challenges, the progress, and the overall experience and impact of using Revel in the course.

With a large cohort of 800 students and a high level of reading expectations, some of the primary teaching challenges were to keep students engaged and help them understand their strengths and gaps during the course cycle.

The student experience of using Revel®

We conducted a survey among the students of the course to help us understand more about their engagement and experience with Revel.

Overall, there was a preference for Revel, both in terms of reading the textbook material as well as using the platform’s self-assessment features.

Furthermore, a large percentage of the students who took part in the survey found the videos featured in Revel useful and agreed that Revel has improved their all-in-all interest in the course.

In conclusion, the quizzes, audiobooks, and flashcards were among the strengths in the overall experience of using Revel®. The pilot study also presents useful feedback provided at the end of the course by the instructor and students, highlighting further opportunities to improve the teaching and learning experience.
