MyLab Accounting trial at Copenhagen Business School
Copenhagen Business School in Denmark strives to challenge students and give them the experience of doing more than a general business school student. 77 Business and Sociology second-year students participated in this case review of MyLab Accounting. These students were not from a degree with a focus on accounting.
Findings
There was a lot of positive feedback with MyLab Accounting. Students appreciated the time the lecturer took to review the exercises in the book and Accounting Cycle. Most of the features added to the flexibility in how the course was organized.
MyLab Accounting contributed to the overall pass grade, engagement, and high success of the mid-term test. During the semester, students were more engaged - not only with theory, but they took more time to practice. There were no failures, and all students achieved at least 50% on the tests.
Lecturer’s tips
- Properly and actively introduce MyLab by going through some exercises with your students in a class session.
- Show how great it is to practice on their own without pressure and how well it fits in the program and gives them the feeling of progressing in their understanding.
- Point out that there is no gap between your expectations and what the students practice on the platform; otherwise, they don’t see the added value.
- The timing of issuing the assignments is also great because it keeps students on track.
