Developing managers of the future with Revel
With growing student numbers, lecturers in Management at City's Business School wanted an accessible tool that would improve independent study skills. They introduced Revel in 2018 and this report shows the effect it has had on learning and engagement.
There were approximately 375 undergraduate full-time students and Dr Chung, lecturer in Management, chose to use Revel with Management and Organisational Behaviour. This title offered a good range of themes and concepts that aligned to the learning outcomes of the module.
Revel replaces traditional textbooks with an interactive learning experience giving lecturers the ability to track engagement from their students - inside and outside the classroom.
The business school faced the following challenges:
- Programme-wide change to delivery
- Increase in student numbers
- Transition to Higher Education
- Lack of independent study skills
The report found Revel offered students an engaging and accessible means of keeping pace with the intensive nature of the module outside of class.
“Choosing sections, putting them on to Moodle with the link was very easy. I thought the interface on my side was easy. I also think from a reader’s perspective, it was probably very easy to use. This was clear in the feedback session we conducted with students”
— Dr Chung, City's Business School
