We have added more information to point 4 in the How the BTEC appeals process will differ section of our BTEC Appeals Guidance.

This section now provides more detail on how you can make changes to your submitted Q-TAGs if you identify an error after 18 June 2021 when the Q-TAG portal closed. We would encourage you to review and familiarise yourself with the information, so you are able to correct errors if you need to.

The action you need to take will differ depending on whether you are correcting an error pre or post results. We will do what we can to correct errors before results day. We have also provided this information in our Correcting errors in Teacher Assessed Grades (TAG) submissions document (PDF | 147KB).

Thank you for submitting your Q-TAGs and BTEC-specific Head of Centre Declarations last week.  

Provided your Q-TAGs were submitted on time, we contacted all selected centres for Q-TAG evidence sampling on Tuesday. If you have not received an email from us, this will most likely mean your centre has not been selected. We are following up with any email bounce-backs right now.

To be absolutely sure, you can log into the Q-TAG portal and check the menu options available – if ‘sample upload‘ option is not showing for vocational qualifications, then your centre has not been selected. We know you would like the confirmation, so we will also send an email to all centres that have not been selected, once this check is completed, as soon as possible and within the next couple of working days. 

Please note:

• If you are running licence to practice qualifications, these have a different QA process and timelines which must be followed (you will be contacted separately on this)
• If you are making late submissions or late amendments, we may still need to contact you
• We could be in touch about other issues, as we would do in the normal course of events around certification, so you should ensure that someone is contactable
• In line with GQ you must not confirm any Q-TAG judgments with learners until the specified learner results day(s)
• You must retain the evidence which is used to support a Teacher Assessed Grade until 6 months after the date of the issue of the result, or the conclusion of any complaint, malpractice investigation or appeal in relation to that result, whichever is later. 
  

Selected centres have been given until 23:59pm on Thursday 24 June to submit evidence for selected learners on selected programmes, evidence will then be allocated to a Reviewer.

After successful evidence submission, we will only contact you if there is an issue or query for the sample submitted. If you are not contacted, then no further action will be required.

Please do remember however, that we could be in touch about other issues as we would do in the normal course of events around certification, so you should ensure that someone is contactable.

We confirmed the process for amending Q-TAGs that were submitted on time in Bulletin 21.

Now that the deadline has passed for on-time submissions, you can find the late submission process, for learner’s Q-TAGs and the Head of Centre Declaration, below:

• Late Q-TAG submissions can be submitted by downloading the template from the QTAG Portal (although the portal is closed, you will still be able to access the download function) and sending this to resultsresolution@pearson.com. Please note late submissions may not be reviewed in time for results days.
• For any late submissions of Q-TAGs you will need to re-submit the Head of Centre Declaration using this form
• If you have realised that you did not submit your Head of Centre Declaration on time, the form should also be used.
  

Now that we are fast approaching the end of term for many centres, we know your thoughts are very much focused on next academic year, and any provisions that will be in place to accommodate mid-flight and new learners and the impact of COVID-19.

We updated you on our plans for midflight learners and the use of the ‘Z flag’ in Bulletin 21. We will update you when we are in a position to, regarding other permitted adaptations and mitigations for the 2021/22 academic year.

As the BTEC Awards 2021 draws closer, we can’t wait to announce this year’s fantastic winners and their achievements. But behind every incredible learner, there is an inspirational teacher or tutor.
