Pearson X Ametros Virtual Workplace Experience
The learner will take on the role of a marketing specialist at The Affirmative Business Collection, or ABC, a local business incubator for small businesses and entrepreneurs. As a marketing specialist, the learner is responsible for meeting with various clients and helping them navigate the world of marketing. The learner will be supported by an AI-powered virtual mentor/coach. This character will assume the role of senior marketing lead and will guide the learner throughout the experiential series. Each module will take an estimated 30-45 minutes to complete.
The series will consist of eight experiential learning modules focused on the following topics:
- Analyzing the Marketing Environment
- Marketing Research and Consumer Behavior
- Segmentation, Targeting, and Position
- Product and Branding
- Pricing
- Distribution
- Promotion and Advertising
- Sustainable Business: Social Responsibility and Ethics
The experiential series can be assigned in any order, allowing instructors to choose the modules that best align with their course syllabus. Whether an instructor chooses to assign one module or all eight, students will experience one continuous narrative.

Scenario
Students are working in the role of a marketing specialist at a marketing agency. Their current client is an artisanal specialty foods company, Palette Essentials. Palette has acquired a small hot sauce company, Flame Fusion. As a marketing specialist, the student is tasked with analyzing the current market, including competitors and emerging trends.
The marketing specialist will be guided by their virtual mentor and agile coach, Sarina Desai. The student will receive advice, feedback, and assessment from Sarina as they navigate the tasks required to complete the module.
Skills Assessed
- Data analysis - the learner needs to review industry background information and primary input on industry trends.
- Effective communication - the learner needs to ask effective questions to gather information from an industry expert.
- Critical thinking - the learner needs to identify key information from their research.

In addition to working with clients as a marketing specialist, students are given feedback and assessed on critical employability skills including Communication, Critical Thinking, Professionalism, Decision Making, and many more.
Through the virtual workplace, students get a taste of what a future job would look like after graduating and see the benefits of both application and employability skill development.
