Welcome back, everyone provide the name of the saturated fatty acid containing 22 carbon atoms through the condensed structural formula and skeletal structure of this fatty acid. So essentially for this problem, what we have to have is general knowledge if we have a total of 22 carbon atoms and it is a saturated fatty acid, we can tell that the molecular formula will be C 22. Now, how many hydros will we have? Well, essentially we can use that hydrogen deficiency index as an example. If we have one degree of saturation wet and carbona, then we simply want to have the number of hydrogen atoms twice as large relative to 22 right. So essentially that would be 44 hydrogens followed by two oxygens. So we have derived the molecular formula. This molecular formula is really not a necessity for our problem, but we can always use it to check if we got the correct structure. Now, first of all, let's draw the condensed structural formula and we know that it is fully saturated. So at the end of the chain, we will always have a metal group within the LK part. Let's recall that carboxylic acids will always have a form of coo H and then a specific alkyl group on the left. So that alkyl group must have a total of 21 carbon atoms because we're subtracting one from carboxy. What we want to do is simply begin by writing C three. So let's go ahead and see that CH three. And now we want to add 20 more CH two units, right? Because in between, we have CH two units for the condensed structural formula, we have to recall that we're only showing the carbon carbon bonds, right? We don't want to show those carbon hydrant bonds. So let's go ahead and add all of the seeds to units and we want to add 20 of them. So one to you, we sorry. Previously, we had to include seeds too, right? So we or five thanks seven, eight, nine, Sam 11, 12, 13, 14, 1516, 17, 18. And we need two more 19 and 20. So we have 20 cds to units and CH three. This gives us 21 carbon atoms. So the final carbon atom must represent carboxy coo H and once again, we're not expanding carbon hygen or carbon or oxygen, hydrogen bonds, right? We only want to show the bonds between carbons, the bonds between carbon and oxygen, but not the bonds between hetero atom and oxygen or carbon and hetero atom and hygen or carbon and hygen. I'm sorry. Right. So essentially we have our condense structural formula. And now we want to draw the skeletal formula, which is much easier. Essentially, we want to draw a zigzag with a total of 22 carbons. So 12, we or five, 67, 89, 1011, 1213, 1415, 16, 1718, 19, 2021 and 22 add a 22nd carbon. We simply want to add carboxy and this gives us the sket structure. And finally, what is the name of this saturated fatty acid? While according to the general knowledge that we must have for this problem, the name would be, be heic acid and that's it. We have our final answers. Thank you for watching.
