Hey everyone, we're told that zinc fluoride follows the crystal lattice shown below, determine the formula of zinc fluoride. Looking at our crystal lattice, we can see that we have a face centered cubic. And to determine the formula, let's go ahead and first count the number of the zinc we have, we can see that we have one internal and we have 1234 5, 6, 7 and eight. So we have one internal and eight corners And those eight corners are going to be 1/8 of an atom. So to determine our value, we get one plus eight times 18 since it is 18 of an atom. And this will get us to two of zinc. Now let's go ahead and determine our flooring. So we can see that we have two internal And we have four corners, so that's going to be one half of an atom calculating the number of flooring. We're going to take that to internal and we're going to add four times one half since we do have one half of an atom, this will get us to a value of four of flooring. So our formula comes up to CN two F 4 but we can go ahead and simplify this to get Z. N. F two, which is our zinc fluoride. Now I hope that made sense. And let us know if you have any questions
