Identify the critical points of the function ƒ by finding where the derivative ƒ'(x) is equal to zero or undefined within the interval [-3, 3].
Evaluate the function ƒ at the critical points found in the previous step to determine their corresponding y-values.
Check the endpoints of the interval, x = -3 and x = 3, by evaluating the function ƒ at these points to find their y-values.
Compare the y-values obtained from the critical points and the endpoints to identify which are local maxima and minima.
List the coordinates of the local maxima and minima based on the comparisons made in the previous step.
