Video transcript

Hello everyone. And in today's video we have the following problem. So which strand of DNA is used to transcribe into M. RNA. And so the process how it works is that this DNA the double helix is separated into two strands. Four transcription to take place. One strand is going to run five prime 23 prime, while the other one will be opposite to it, running three prime to five prime. However when transcription happens these transcription factors or these transcription complex is going to attach to this trend creating an M. RNA strand that is running opposite to it or 53. This M RNA strand is going to be essentially the same as the original five or three D. N. A. Strand. Except that timing is replaced by euros L because it is an RNA strand. Now because these two are essentially the same strand. This is called the coding strand because it codes the it has the exact same code as the M. R. N. A. And this one is called a template string. Now the template strand is the one that is going to be coding this new M. RNA strand. So here we have that A is actually a correct choice however since this is the coding strand, this one this template strand is going to be also called the known coding strand because it's code is going no it's not going to be the same as this M RNA molecule. So this is actually correct as well. And also we have answer choice C. Which is the anti sense strand since these two strands are opposite to each other are running in opposite directions. This is going to be called also the anti sense strength and this is going to be called the sense strand because it's running in the same direction as the M. RNA. So actually all three A B and C are going to be correct and the correct answer choice eventually is going to be the all of the above. So all of these are different names to describe the strand that is going to be just directly transcribed, being directly transcribed into RNA. And that will be our final answer to your question. Thank you very much for sticking around until the end of this video and I really hope it helped you.
