And so, recall from our previous lesson videos that blood is a type of specialized connective tissue. And we know that blood is important for transporting nutrients and oxygen gas to the living cells within living tissues. And so, really, what's going to be most directly affected by the loss of blood flow are going to be the living cells, again, in the living tissue. And so, notice answer option a says the inorganic matrix, including the calcium phosphate crystals. And option b says, the collagen protein fibers in the extracellular matrix. And notice that neither of these options are going to be alive. They're not actually living cells. And so, for that reason, they're not going to be most directly affected. And so, notice option c says osteocytes, which we know are actually living cells found in bone or osseous tissue. And so, it's going to be these living cells, cells, the osteocytes, again, that are going to be most directly affected by the loss of blood flow. So, we can indicate that answer option c is the correct answer to this practice problem. And answer option d says that all options a through c are correct. But again, what's most directly affected are the living cells and everything else will be affected, but only after the living cells are affected.
