Real communication is key
Speakout bridges the gap between the classroom and the real world, not only through the inclusion of motivating material, but also through carefully planned strategies for improved speaking and listening skills.
Lesson one and two provide grammar and vocabulary input. Students practise the newly aquired language in several types of exercises. These go from closed to more open activities where student have to use the language actively. The third lesson in each unit is a ‘functional lesson’ that focuses on speaking and communication strategies. These three lessons provide material that leads up to the fourth lesson. This lesson contains BBC input, but the intention is to create output: students are asked to speak and write in a guided task.
